Sexual violence is a serious and prevalent issue, considering some celebrities has been accused of it. It’s because of a culture where makes it hard for victims to come forward why it took so long for this matter to be taken seriously. In order to end this culture, the author suggests four steps for us to take. Firstly, we need to better understand what acts make up sexual harassment and assault. Second, we must remember how common sexual violence is: about 20% women in the US have suffered from rape or attempted rape. Third, we must correct common misunderstanding about people committing sexual crimes: they are likely people victims know and trust or people with authority or successful careers. Lastly, we need to take action and support victims around us so that they know they’re not alone, or to support anti-sexual violence organizations. Recognizing that times are surely changing, we should help end sexual violence for good. (157 words)
